30th Anniversary big funding drive

THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY BIG FUNDRAISING DRIVE

CYTs BIG 30th Anniversary also sees the start of a huge fundraising drive to secure the future of the youth theatre. In celebration of the end of yet another decade of CYT history we staged our biggest formal event – The White Pearl 30th Anniversary Ball on Saturday 28th December, 2013, at Wolverhampton's Dunstall Park Racecourse. All guests were requested to wear formal evening black and white evening wear.

  • The evening included a three course meal, dancing and entertainment – with memories of the last 30yrs of CYT shows and tours.

It brought back memories of Wolverhampton's Low Level Station – which was CYTs spiritual home during 2011.There our hard-working and talented Everybody Dance Now team transformed an empty shell into an amazing ballroom space in which we staged memorable performances as part of the Cultural Olympiad.

During 2013/14 we will be working hard to raise £300,000 to secure the future of CYT for the next decade! Help us if you can! Former members Tom Parry and Ben Clark will be doing a major fundraiser with a big comedy gig at the Grand Theatre on Thursday 29th May 2014.

An all star lineup will be announced before the end of the year and tickets will go on sale early in the New Year.

Again at The Grand, we will be bringing our work to the largest possible audience during the week beginning the 7th of July, 2014. Former members from across the 30 years of CYT history will be invited to write, direct and design shows that will be performed by current members.

In January we will start to cast the shows in time to start rehearsals from mid-February.

At the moment we are still coming up with a name for the project – so any ideas are welcome. Please text 07941 922580 or email them to director Jane Ward twwajane@aol.com

On Friday, 18th October, there was a fun family quiz at West End Working Mens Club, Wolverhampton and on Sunday, 27th October, our volunteers bag packed at the big Tesco, Burnt Tree Island, Dudley, to raise £1,190 for us.

The Sunday before (20th October) former members Joe  Hancock (2 hours 10minutes) and Celeste Dring (1 hour 56 minutes) did the Bupa Great Birmingham Run to raise £1,000 for us – but beat their target to raise nearly £1,500 up until now (still open for donations).
