MEMORIES IN A SHOE BOX
A retrospective performance charting 40 years of the history of Wolverhampton’s Central Youth Theatre
Written by CYT’s Founding Director – Jane Ward MBE
In 1983 a tiny youth theatre was born and now 40 years later we celebrate the long history of CYT through a play covering 4 decades.
A very personal uncensored re-telling of our history by Founding Director Jane Ward MBE who has trawled through the archives, sharing memories and insights into the bizarre madness of developing and sustaining the company despite the countless setbacks and challenges!
It’s all laid bare – the highs, the lows, the artistic achievements, the mad escapades, the personalities who have shaped CYT, the changes but also the similarities that have bound thousands of young people together through a shared experience.
Our performance journey takes us through the contrasting European countries we’ve visited; to treading the boards on the tiniest and grandest performance spaces; the staging of contrasting performance styles from classical to contemporary; the re-telling of our local history to the stories of our member’s personal achievements.
We want to share all this with you and hope you can join us for this one-off never to be repeated show.
Please note no risk assessment was completed during the writing of this show!
