Guest Blog Post – current member Joe Horton

I haven’t been at Central Youth Theatre for very long, but it’s already changed my life so much.

I was really shy when I started out, I first became interested in Central Youth Theatre just under a year ago when I went to see their amazing production of “After Dawn”, the acting skills, the costumes and the settings were so inspiring that I had to find out for myself. The feeling of warmth and friendship is beyond description, it doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from and whether you’ve even done acting before as long as you are willing to give it your all.

Everyone is welcome and it has surprised me that even the most unlikely of people have become close friends. Every performance is different and unique in its own way. The performances are amazing and are usually very amusing! Our leaders are always helpful and dedicated to CYT and it gives us, the members a sense of pride that we belong to such a creative and individual establishment. We are soon going to be out of our old home; we and our props will be left homeless.

As a group, we have to preserve and protect CYT for future generations and for former members to look back with pride at the 32 years of CYT and all it inspiring accomplishments. It not just a community, CYT is a family and one way or another we are going to try and save our family being destroyed.

I recommend CYT to anyone of my age, it a fresh and brilliant experience which will take you on the journey of a lifetime. Please donate money to Central Youth Theatre; it has touched the hearts and minds of so many brilliant and special people. It really reaches out to the youth of Wolverhampton and gives them the most wonderful time.

Central Youth Theatre offers kids from an early age an amazing journey which may contribute to a career in the Performance industry. CYT not only offers an acting opportunity, it also offers involvement in costume and set design, editing and behind the scenes. Central Youth Theatre requires the members to pay a reasonable fee which is the same for all members, as we believe everyone should be treated as equally skilled.

It doesn’t matter how much you donate from £5 to £50, make sure you spread the word that CYT is in need of assistance; some members can’t remember a time in their lives without the group! It is a part of the heritage and culture of Wolverhampton. It is embedded into the very fabric of our city and is treasured by members of the community. We also do several workshops around local schools and engage young people in acting. Donate now and save our historic and astonishing community before it is lost.
